Six Carro ****
Six Carro is located in the wonderful Val d’ Arbette. “Plaisir d’ Automne” climbs really nice grippy granite all the way to the summit. It is a true “Plaisir”, especially in golden fall days. But beware: the climb is long and sustained. Retreat is tricky. A stable weather forecast and being well prepared is a must. You can put “Contrefort Sud” into the same category, though it is slightly less difficult and the fixed protection feels slightly less runout. Fast parties can do both routes in a day….which makes climbing 1000m in a day feel like a NIAD (Nose In A Day) El Cap day. The wall can stay wet for 1-2 days following rainfall. The rock is often covered with lichen hence it makes especially challenging climbing when wet.
