Plattenkreuz – Plattenwand ***
The crag beneath the Plattenkreuz is very popular and busy. On the southwest side, the rock is somewhat smooth and splintery in places, making climbing technically challenging. Only those who are comfortable with a lot of air beneath their feet should attempt the steep east face around the corner, as it is quite a drop. “Hans im Wunderland” is another short multi-pitch route to choose from. The Plattenwand offers beautiful face climbing on compact rock. With almost 80 routes ranging from 4b to 8b and a five-minute approach, it's no wonder that it's often very busy on weekends and after work. Please do not block the road completely and carpool if you can. The timber work areas may only be used on weekends. The Plattenwand is mostly in the shade and is ideal in summer. Caution: there is a risk of rockfall on the access routes to the “Brändliwand,” “Tarzan,” and “Arena” sectors.
