The mild temperatures above Lake Lucerne make winter climbing very feasible. Crags such as “Sunnenplättli” and “Föhnenberg” offer sunny, almost Mediterranean conditions, while “Schattenwändli” provides some shade thanks to the surrounding trees. Since the expansion on the southwest side, the crag no longer fully lives up to its name. The approaches and base of the walls are somewhat exposed. Take extra care and be alert. Only “Schattenwändli” is suitable for children. Important: The entire area is at risk of forest fires. Campfires of any kind are strictly prohibited, and cigarettes must be fully extinguished.
