Morteratsch ***

This beautiful crag is distinguished by its fantastic location in Val Morteratsch with wonderful views of the snow-capped giants Bernina and Bellavista. In addition to the view, (most) of the routes are also impressive: from smooth low angle and slabby to steep and athletic, all on consistently compact rock. However, climbing in the main sector takes some getting used to due to the smooth, polished gneiss. The rock is coarser in the higher sectors of “Chünetta.” The area is ideal for children and beginners. The nearby campground and train station also add to its appeal.
