Lauterbrunnen ****
The Staldenfluh could be considered the El Cap of Switzerland’s Yosemite. This massive wall juts up 500m from the valley floor, steeper and steeper up to the overhanging headwall. It took quite awhile until climbers took on this enormous wall. “Fly” was in the making between 2006-2009. Until now, the route has seen only two free ascents (Alex Megos 2014, Cedric Lachat 2019). No less challenging is “Yellow Ocean”. It still awaits a redpoint ascent. The 50m testpieces above Lauterbrunnen demand precision and a refined technique as well as endurance! On the left side of the crag “Wasserstoff” has 5 pitches up to 8a in difficulty and climbs perfect rock all the way up. Depending on wind direction, the nearby waterfall can offer a refreshing coolant. During Chinook winds, plan on a full on shower experience!
