Risk Reports

28.7.2025
Because the Torrent de Bertol carved a deep trench during the last major storm, the previous summer trail to the Bertol and Bouquetins huts is no longer passable and had to be relocated further to the SSE (see information from Swisstopo, SchweizMobil and SAC Tourenportal). However, the approach to the “Douves Rousses” climbing area is still via the old hut trail, even though this is closed to hikers at the junction with the new trail at 2120m (2,604,180, 1,049,400). When descending on foot, it is no longer possible to return (directly) to the start of the climb, which means that all climbing equipment must be carried back. Of course, it is still possible to abseil back to the start!
In addition, Camping Arolla has been permanently closed due to the acute danger of flooding and mudslides. As a temporary replacement, space is available for motorhomes, vans, and day campers at the Hotel de la Tsa: de.camping-arolla.ch
