Someo ***

The biggest wall above Someo, Sector “Ranch”, was first developed/drilled 23 years ago by Gerard Bourgoin and friends. Ten years later, Pesche Wuthrich, took over the reins for the rest of the wall. Much enthusiasm and hard work was necessary even getting to the base of the wall as stubborn thorny bushes had grown over and complicated the approach. In the last few years, young Maggia Valley climbers (Picalciot) eagerly backed and got to work. Sector “Ai Tecc” with its short steep boulder routes followed. “Red Island”, “Nevera”, and “Panorama” with longer routes also appeared. There, the views are one of a kind and phenomenal, but the rock can at times be sandy.
