Fortezza d'Auènn ****

More than a few granite climbing areas in Europe have been compared to famous Yosemite Valley, but if you have actually been there, you know how high the scale really is. It is a different story with the impressive red colored wall of the Fortezza d' Auenn (Fortress Of Auenn) which truly is reminiscent of "The Valley's "Giants", keeping in mind of course that we are still in Switzerland. Almost all of the routes are trad requiring experience placing Camalots and Nuts. Even for the approach, good route finding skills are necessary.
